Kristen Luman earned her BA in Psychology from Portland State University where she focused her studies on Paranormal Psychology and Human Development. She then went on to study at the Hypnosis Motivation Institute (HMI) where she became certified as a hypnotherapist and a member of the American Hypnosis Association. Kristen went on to study psychosomatic conditions (a field of psychology that focuses on how behavioral, psychological, and social factors influence bodily processes) and received additional certifications in Pain Management and Energy Healing.
She is an avid proponent of NLP (neurolinguistic programming) and the Eriksonian school of thought (which describes the impact of social experiences across the whole lifespan). Erikson categorized social interactions and relationships and their role in the developmental growth of human beings. Kristen agrees and in her practice with clients, she has seen that so much can be achieved with the power of believing changes can be made.
Her career began while preparing to go on to graduate school when she was introduced to hypnotherapy. I thought “I should look into this, if I’m going to help people, I should learn all the possible tools. After meeting with a hypnotherapist, I was astonished by the simplicity and the effectiveness of the process. Our mind is so much more powerful than we give it credit for.”
“I decided after the visit that it was my calling and what I should be doing if I truly wanted to make a positive difference in people’s lives. We use about 88% of our subconscious mind compared to the 12% of our conscious mind. So, it made more sense to me that since hypnotherapy works directly with the subconscious mind this is how I should be helping people.”
Kristen is a constant student and teacher. She is always looking for ways to enhance her ability to help her clients achieve their goals. She continues her association with HMI where you can find her in advanced classes or presenting on behalf of the college. Additionally, she has hosted American Hypnosis Association seminars.
Kristen has led classes in Guided Imagery Meditation at Unplug Meditation in Los Angeles. The Imagery Meditation techniques stimulate relaxation, self- discovery, and healing using the connection between the visual brain and the involuntary nervous system. Unplug Meditation’s techniques have been featured on media outlets such as Good Morning America, The Today Show, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Huffington Post, Vogue, and The Medical Daily.
Located in Central Oregon, Kristen’s clients are able to access her via secure video conferencing. Clients find it relaxing to seek her help from the familiar surroundings of their how or work.
